Getting my DVLA code

Article updated on 16/11/2021

A DVLA ‘check code’ is a unique code linked to your driving licence (e.g. x6 P1 AZ k3).

Since the DVLA stopped issuing the paper counterpart of the driving licence in 2015, it’s customary for rental companies to ask for a DVLA code. This code allows us to check your driving licence information, e.g. the vehicles you’re allowed to drive or any penalty points or disqualifications.

To generate this code, please visit:

You will need to provide your driving licence number, postcode and national insurance number.
