Can I pay the owner directly instead of paying on the website?

No, you must book the rental by paying on the website. This process activates our insurance policy’s coverage for your rental.

If an owner suggests that you forego Getaround’s insurance by paying outside of the website, they are running a risk and making you run one too.

If you don’t pay through the website, your rental won't be covered by our insurer.

You should never use cash to pay the owner, unless it's directly specified in the Getaround app or website. The first rental payment is always done through Getaround and never in cash, but some adjustments can be made in cash if you and the owner agree. This will be specified when doing the check out.
