Why verify my phone number

Having a verified phone number provides the car owner and the Getaround team with a reliable way to contact you about upcoming rentals and account issues.

By verifying your phone number, you are helping us to detect and prevent any fraudulent activity on Getaround.

How to verify my number

When requesting or booking a car, you’ll be asked to verify your phone number.

Follow these steps:

  • When prompted, enter your mobile number
  • You will instantly receive an SMS containing a 4-digit code
  • Enter this code to verify your contact number

I did not receive a verification SMS

If you’re not receiving our SMS, it might be because:

  • The country prefix is incorrect: make sure to select the right one.
  • Your phone number is entered incorrectly: please try entering your mobile number again and you’ll receive a new code.
  • You've entered a landline number instead of a mobile phone number: Please enter a mobile phone number.
  • Your mobile carrier may have blocked the verification SMS that Getaround sent. Please contact your mobile provider to confirm that verification texts are not blocked on your mobile account.

Please note that if you haven’t entered the verification code within 2 minutes of receiving it, we’ll automatically call you to quote it via a voicemail.

If you still haven't received a verification SMS or call after checking the most frequent troubleshooting reasons, please contact us here.

NB: Please note that you’ll have to verify your phone number again if you change it on your account.
