Guide to the Congestion Charge

Article updated on 16/11/2021

It's the driver's responsibility to pay for the congestion charge, which is not included in the rental price.

The information below is provided as a helpful guide and is accurate at the time of writing. We always recommend you refer to the official tfl.gov.uk site for the latest information or updates.

The Congestion Charge is a £15 daily charge if you drive within the Congestion Charge zone 07:00-22:00, every day, except Christmas Day (25 December) and does not include the Dartford Crossing Charge.

Drivers must pay in advance, on the day of travel, or by midnight on the following charging day.

If this isn't paid, you will receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). To find out more about handling PCNs, go to this article.
