Understanding the mileage allowance

Article updated on 16/11/2021

The included mileage depends on the length of your rental. You can increase your mileage allowance by buying a mileage package when you book the rental.

There’s no limit to how many miles you can drive during your rental. If you exceed your mileage allowance (the sum of the included mileage and mileage package if you bought one), you’ll pay for the extra miles at the end of the rental.

Included mileage

Duration Included mileage
1 hour 24 mi
2 hours - 8 hours + 12 mi per hour
1 day (from 9 hours) 120 mi
2 days 240 mi
3 days 360 mi
4 days 480 mi
5 days 600 mi
6 days 660 mi
7 days 720 mi
8 days 780 mi
9 days 840 mi
10 days 900 mi
11 days 960 mi
12 days 1020 mi
13 days 1080 mi
14 days 1140 mi
15 days - 30 days 1200 mi

If you extend your rental, the included mileage for your rental will increase automatically.

Mileage packages and adjustments

If you plan to drive further than the included mileage for your rental, add a mileage package when booking to increase your mileage allowance. You can’t buy a mileage package after you’ve booked your rental.

The size of each mileage package depends on the duration of your rental:

Duration Size of each mileage package
1 hour - 1 day 20 mi
2 - 5 days 50 mi
6 - 30 days 100 mi

If you exceed your mileage allowance (the sum of the included mileage and mileage package if you bought one), you’ll pay for the extra miles at the end of the rental. For rentals with Getaround Connect, this is done automatically. For rentals without Getaround Connect, you’ll decide with the owner how to pay for the extra miles.

The price per extra mile for mileage packages and adjustments depends on the car category:

Category Mileage package Mileage adjustment
Eco £0.18 per mile £0.36 per mile
Comfort £0.20 per mile £0.40 per mile
Premium £0.31 per mile £0.62 per mile

For example: You rent a car for two days. You have 240 mi included and decided to increase your mileage to 440 mi by buying a mileage package, but you end up driving 463 mi. After your trip, you’ll be charged for the extra 23 mi driven, according to the price set by Getaround.

If the distance you drive is less than your mileage allowance, you won’t be refunded for the unused miles.
