Drivy, Europe’s leading car sharing platform, goes nationwide following a successful launch in London and appoints Katy Medlock as the first Head of UK.
To pilot its nationwide expansion strategy, Drivy has appointed Katy to spearhead the company’s growth and allow car and fleet owners all over the country to list their vehicles on Drivy.
As the new UK lead in Drivy’s latest market, Katy brings with her 10 years’ experience of consumer marketing and leadership in the transport and leisure industry. She has previously worked in senior roles for Tourism New Zealand and JUCY, the car and campervan rental company.
Her first tasks at Drivy will be focused on increasing business in London and driving growth aimed at easing congestion across the UK. Since recent European research has shown that the sharing of one car will take nine off the road, Drivy is looking to encourage car sharers to also make use greener means of transport such as buses, cycling and walking.
Katy Medlock said: "Congestion and sustainable travel is high on every region’s agenda. I am excited to be on board leading the Drivy UK team as car sharing is a proven solution towards supporting these issues. We’re looking to work closely with local councils and partners to tackle these issues, as well as drive investment into local businesses and communities to utilise idle vehicles more efficiently.”
Drivy enables qualified drivers to rent vehicles from other car owners - whether local residents offsetting their car costs or entrepreneurs and rental companies investing in car sharing to reach new customers.
Through the Drivy app, people can browse and instantly book a nearby car, unlock it with their phone through Drivy’s Open technology, and use it anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Fully comprehensive insurance is provided by Allianz with 24/7 breakdown assistance from the AA.
